Tasca d’Almerita and Palermo-Montecarlo, an inserapable bond

The bond between the Palermo-Montecarlo regatta and the Tasca d’Almerita family is inseparable, as it has been since the start of this spectacular and symbolic competition that connects the two shores of the Mediterranean. A bond rooted in a love for the sea and its values: at sea as in the vineyard, as man confronts nature, the only appropriate approach is one of respect and preservation.

A bond through time: one that binds the Tasca d’Almerita family to the Circolo della Vela Sicilia, organizer of the regatta. Count Giuseppe Tasca d’Almerita was among its founders in 1933 and served as president of the club in 1982. A club that boasts a respectable pedigree among the Mediterranean sailing clubs, as well as the sponsoring club of the 2021 “”Luna Rossa”” challenge and the upcoming 2024 edition of the America’s Cup.

The Palermo-Montecarlo each year, the Giuseppe Tasca d’Almerita Trophy is awarded to the boat ranked first in real-time. It was created by Count Giuseppe back in 1993 when he saw for the first time an exceptional group of helmsmen and professionals of world-class offshore sailing gather in the Gulf of Mondello.

For the past 11 years, Tasca d’Almerita, a family symbolic of modern winemaking in Sicily, has been committed to the development of a sustainability program to protect the territory, thus generating the SOStain protocol.

This year, too, it will be a partner of the Palermo – Montecarlo, one of the most important and renowned offshore regattas in the Mediterranean Sea.
