Tasca dAlmerita è diventata una B Corp certificata

Tasca d'Almerita is now a certified B Corp

Tasca d’ Almerita is a certified B Corp and has become part of a small international network of organisations that meet high standards of social and environmental performance, responsibility, and transparency.

This is a significant achievement, since the standards adopted by B Corp are today considered to be the strictest worldwide: out of more than 240,000 companies that underwent the B Impact Assessment – the evaluation process necessary to become a B Corp – only 3% has obtained certification from the international organisation B Lab

With this certification, Tasca d’Almerita officially becomes part of a global movement of companies committed to promoting an inclusive, fair, and regenerative economy.

“I am very proud of the result we achieved, which comes as a culmination of a project for respectful territorial development that we have been carrying out in Sicily for years. The journey that led us to this certification was complex and challenging because the standards are rightly very high and rigorous. It was very important for us to learn new methods of work aimed at doing business while always keeping the Common Good as our objective and trying to implement them,” says Alberto Tasca, the eighth generation of the family leading Tasca d’Almerita. “Thanks to this journey, we have an even clearer idea of the areas we need to improve and focus on in the near future.”

Tasca d’Almerita thus marks another important step in its journey of continuous improvement.

Among the key elements that contributed to the B Corp certification, there is undoubtedly SOStain – the sustainability protocol for Sicilian viticulture, certified by an independent third party, to which Tasca has adhered since 2010. Based on ten minimum sustainability requirements, measurable and comparable, the program has a principle at its base: the influence of agricultural activities goes beyond the fields that are cultivated because it also concerns the well-being of workers, the health of consumers, the enhancement of the surrounding territory, and the conservation of natural resources. The SOStain Sicily Foundation, which today includes 39 Sicilian wineries, all committed to the sustainable growth of Sicily, safeguards the Disciplinary. Tasca d’Almerita thus marks another important step in its journey of continuous improvement.

By amending its bylaws, Tasca d’Almerita had already become a Benefit Corporation, committing itself legally to pursue the goals of common benefit alongside profit objectives.

All the concrete actions taken in terms of environmental and social responsibility are included in the Sustainability Report, a document that Tasca d’Almerita has voluntarily published for 12 years. The goal is to showcase, through scientific data, the progress made within the company, but also the areas for improvement.
